A note from T - on health, healing, and finding purpose.
For as long as I can remember, health has always been top of mind for me. Though the word ”health” today holds a much different meaning from my version of the word back then. My early years were ultra-structured. Days were packed with dance, cheer, school activities, and everything under the sun and moon. As I grew older, I poured my soul into movement to keep my body fit to unrealistic standards - this was the start of my unhealthy relationship with my body, mind, and food. I struggled with having an eating disorder and disordered eating, and coupled that with addictive movement and thought patterns. Most of this ebbed and flowed until my mid-20’s.
I found myself with the emotional burden of life happenings, unhappy in a finance career that I once loved, strangled relationships with people that were once very close to me - I was completely out of tune with my body and spirit. I finally hit rock bottom and decided it was time for a change. I shifted my focus to the good around me and that’s when my life transformed.
I enrolled for the Health Coaching Training Program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition as a way to heal. I focused on intuitive eating; listening to my body and embracing foods that made me feel good. I began to love my body and move in a way that celebrated every inch of it. I embarked on a spiritual path; journaling, meditating, breathing. I left a taxing career in personal finance for a more flexible and creative path. I cried, I forgave, I loved, I leaned into inner-peace and profound self-love.
Through holistic health education and my own experiences, I no longer suffer from bulimia, I’ve healed my gut from SIBO and a candida takeover, I successfully came off the birth control pill and balanced my hormones naturally, I’ve cleared my acne prone skin, and so much more - all through a plant-rich diet, celebrating my body through movement, spiritual practices that help me heal, routines and rituals that I’m really proud of, a strong community, and all the best intentions.
Though my days today aren’t always as structured, and life still ebbs and flows, I’ve learned to find balance, stay present, and lean into my most authentic self. This journey of self-discovery connected me to my purpose and carved a place for me in the wellness space. It is through community, food, movement, stillness, presence, love, and light that I put my best foot forward and help guide others to do the same.
Well-Intended was founded on the belief that the best health is intentional and available to everyone that chooses it.
-
Intentions connect us to our greater purpose and serve as the “why” behind our actions.
-
Intentions are focused on how we want to feel internally, because who we are is a direct reflection of how we feel inside.
-
Intentions allow for “being” rather than “doing”.
-
Intentions are the foundations of living a profound and beautiful life.
-
Living up to our intentions is not about the destination, but rather the journey along the way.
